Outreach Section
This section conducts a range of activities such as exhibitions, History Fair, giving lectures in schools etc... with the aim of promoting our archival heritage and preserving our history.

Archives Section
The Archives Section encompasses various functions essential for dissemination of Archival Records to the public. This Section incorporated of the Research and Reference Unit, the Notary Unit, the Genealogy Unit and the Acquisition & Records Processing Unit, works collectively ensuring that contents are acquired for long-term preservation in the Seychelles National Archives and that these contents are also easily accessible to the members of the public upon request.

Research and Reference Unit
This unit is responsible for the appropriate dissemination of archival information to the general public by making accessible documents in digital and textual formats for immediate consultation or for approved replications upon request.

Genealogy Unit
This unit is responsible for conducting genealogical research and mounting Family tree at the request of Members of the public for personal or Official use.

Notary Unit
This unit is responsible to make accessible Notarial documents for immediate consultation or for approved replications upon request.

Acquisition and Records Processing Unit
Acquire documents as per the National Archives Conservation Act. This includes publications such as newspapers, books, official gazettes etc...
Prepare findings aids (tools that will enable researchers to have access to information.) This is done both manually and electronically.

Records Processing Section
Process records (files) that has been approved by the Archives Disposal Committee to render them accessible to the general public. This is done both manually and electronically ensuring considerable volumes of information are available in digital format.

Archives Conservation Section
The Conservation Section plays a crucial role in preserving records for future generations. It involves ensuring the physical and digital longevity of these items are preserved and in pristine state to be presented to members of the public upon request. These works are undertaken in our Binding & Deacidification (Restoration)Unit, the Digital Conservation Unit and the Audio-Visual Unit.

Binding and De-acidification (Restoration) Unit
Binding of documents using archives traditional binding methods
Restore / repair damaged documents using different methods such as laminating and leaf casting process.
Removing acids from paper using archives traditional methods

Digital conservation Unit
Scan and convert tangible archives into digital mediums to facilitate their conservation.

Audio-Visual Unit
Collecting audio visual information from media houses and artists
Classification and dissemination of audio and visual information

Records Management Section
Responsible for the proper classification, storage and overall management of semi-current records.

Inspectorate Unit
This unit is responsible for conducting inspection visits and recommendation of Governmental, Parastatal and Agencies’ Archives. Ensuring that the way they store documents are in accordance to DPA’S standards and recommendations. They also help with the process of file transfers or ways to destroy files who are no longer considered for archiving.

Classification Unit
This unit is responsible to receive all incoming semi-current files at the Record centre. The files are browsed through ensuring they match the list they came with. Then they are cleaned, given a code and placed in specialized box on the shelves. An index is also created to make retrieval easier when the ministries or agencies request these files.

Retrieval Unit
This unit is responsible for the retrieval of semi-current files that are already in storage at the Record Center, requested by the Ministries or Agencies that sent these files to be stored in the Archives. After retrieval these agencies or ministries come pick up the files but they have to bring them back when they are finished using it, as they are under our responsibility.
